Gondolas

A quick sketch done in black pen when in Venice. I love using pen and ink as a medium for quick drawings because of the rough, sketchy effect that I can get with the way in which I draw. I prefer artworks with less 'finish', hence the name of this blog.

Grandfather

Sketch done in HB pencil. Drawn on a whim when feeling nostalgic over past photos and gone family members.

"Hope" is the thing with feathers--

That perches in the soul-
And sings the tune without the words-
And never stops - at all-

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard-
And sore must be the storm-
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm-

I've heard it in the chillest land-
And on the strangest Sea-
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of Me.

One of my favourite Dickinson poems.

In the mood for Love...

Chromogenic print by Christopher Doyle

An urgent addition to the must-see film list, I can't believe I have passed-over such an iconic Hong Kong film. Maggie Cheung's never-ending array of beautiful cheongsams is reason enough.

Life is more thrilling in a pair of high heels.

I am never wearing flats again. The self-empowerment one gets in heels is just too good to miss out on.
